The emotional landscape

Mood, atmosphere and tuning do not portray a landscape as a whole still entity but make it over and over, across fluctuations and nuances that register how we situate ourselves in it: a construction that does not have to do with permanence, but exists and changes culturally and historically.

Georg Simmel

"Stimmung" are internal inquiries of my reflection in the landscapes in which I integrate the body to create scenes fusing with the other elements of nature. The surreal shapes imitate body structures and contexts in which it is introduced in an intriguing way. Sometimes, the body gets into space and vice versa.

The title given by the German word: Stimmung, is of essential importance. Simultaneously means mood, humor, spirit, climate trends, moral ... The body transmits the atmosphere of the landscape, and the landscape reflects the feelings of the figures. Something undisclosed. It is the mystery wrapped at the start of the night. I appeal to the beholder, to his empathy.

I believe in the landscape as construction of the human mind, although it undeniably exists in esthetic terms "per se". It is first, an act of seeing and feeling to be later interpreted by art, giving a complete turnaround in the process of creator-observer-creator.

I refer to the concept of "landscape Stimmung" by Simmel: The landscape is manifested through the perception and imagination of the viewer of the various elements of nature, depositing their states of consciousness in what he sees.

Ritter in "Landscape" maintains that the landscape is a mental construct: it is man who gives meaning to landscapes and feels the need to move towards the supports of Art. The landscape shows the human need to feel close to nature as well as to value its beauty. It is a spiritual form which combines our vision and creativity. Landscape as awareness of where I am, where life happens. Nature has a power that minimizes to integrate, while connecting us with a sense of existence and common belonging. It is our image of the world and reflects our emotional state.

Irene Cruz

Irene Cruz takes us to a very particular context, in which the atmosphere is perfectly studied and pondered and meets the need of the artist to capture specific and differentiating elements. The special light of sunset, as the transition between day and night, creates a mysterious environment  inviting us to delve into every corner of the image. In the northern European countries is where Irene finds this cold light that gives meaning to her work.

The previous is one of the hallmarks of the spanish artist. At the same time her works lets us to see forest landscapes that surround the nude female human figure giving the scene of a sensual character and a strong sense of what is represented. The human figure is trying to hide from the camera by the omission of a direct look in the eyes of the beholder. The artist interest is mainly focused on the expression of emotions and feelings from a universal perspective.
